Criteria for alphabetizing: Per consensus, the following alphabetization order was agreed upon for this article:
Family name when it's available or customarily used regardless of given order
Christian or personal name when no last name is available or customarily used
Place associated with the title when only a title is available
Pseudonym when this is how the character is generally known, for example, Nightcrawler or perhaps "Jii-chan" from InuYasha.
I would remove it , Sound of Music is based in The true history of Marie von Trapp--User:Atenea26, 30th, may 2007, 15:49 (UTC)
While Maria was indeed a real person, the story is highly fictionalized and the other sisters and mother abbess are not meant to represent any real persons. Leaving Maria off the list is appropriate, but the others should remain.Rockhopper10r04:32, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From the 80s sitcom Amen, I notice that Deacon Fry is listed as a Catholic deacon, while Ruben Gregory, of the same church, is listed as Baptist. I was an occasional watcher of the television show, but I don't remember the church ever mentioning a denomination. I do recall one episode it was mentioned the church baptized by immersion.

This list is, at the moment of writing, 73,478 bytes long. WP:Article size says that a page of about 30 kB to 50 kB of readable prose takes between 30 and 40 minutes to read at average speed. Because of this, I believe the list in it's current form is too long to read comfortably, and that actions should be taken to reduce it's size. I propose to remove all entries where the name of the fictional character is not wikilinked from the list. This would reduce the size of this list by more than a half, whilst still keeping it useful for navigational purposes. Not a very active user (talk) 12:31, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, there are many individual character entries corresponding to one same media franchise (novel, movie, anime, game, etc.) within one same category; they could be collapsed into one single list item (rather than two or three), as in these two example cases:
(note that I reordered them in the same order they appear in the article List of Inuyasha characters according to their protagonist or support status)
This would not only save bytes by removing redundant mentions of one same franchise, but also reduce the amount of redundant wikilinkage (as is currently the case for A Canticle for Leibowitz, which was wikilinked twice within the same category). ‐‑🌀SilSinnAL982100💬19:28, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right now I saved 368 bytes by merging and consolidating all mikos in Shinto > Miko; if this is practiced on all other categories, more bytes can be saved. Then, if more bytes need to be saved, then only the least-significant characters within a same franchise can be silently dropped and an <!-- editor comment --> can be put there advising editors to only include the most notable examples from each franchise if there is a significant difference in notoriety among characters from one same franchise within one same category (for the Inuyasha example above, maybe we can drop Kikyo and Kaede and keep Kagome who is the female protagonist there). ‐‑🌀SilSinnAL982100💬19:42, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
